Most people realize that search engine optimization requires link building. Even those who are complete novices to the process of search engine optimization will realize that link building is a must for boosting a website’s rankings in the search engines.
Why are links so vitally important to the ranking of a website in the major and minor search engines? Basically, each and every link placed on the web acts as a vote for your site’s popularity. The more links you have pointed to your site, the better the chances are that the site will be favorably ranked.
However, it is also important to point out that you cannot be indiscriminate about the links that you select. You need to pick links that will most definitely deliver the very best results. Some links are just not “smiled upon” by the search engines like other links are. That is why it is necessary to clearly define which links are the best ones to acquire.
First and foremost, you will want links that are considered relevant. This does raise the obvious question regarding what exactly would considered a relevant link. Generally, a relevant link would be a link placed on a website that shares similar content to yours. The content can be loosely related but it does need to be related. It is certainly helpful to slowly add links to the internet. When too many links show up roughly at the same time, the search engines will assume you are buying links. This is not all that problematic but you will not see the links impact your rankings as strongly as they would have otherwise. By adding links to the web slowly and surely, you will discover that impact of the links will be far greater than you would have previously imagined.
You should place links pretty much anywhere and everywhere you can. This includes websites, web link directories, message board signatures, and blog comments. Again, you want to be as prolific as possible when it comes to placing links since this will boost your chances of getting the most SEO impact out of them. With many businesses engaging in advertising wars in order to win over the majority of the Internet’s viable market, it’s easy to deduce the intensity of the competition. After all, the Internet and its network of information grow exponentially by the minute, while the increase in the number of users more or less takes a little slower.
Some businesses employ paid advertising on major commercial portals in the Internet, in hopes that the traffic generated by these pages will eventually flow into their own company website. Others make use of the ingenious pay-per-click (PPC) system, which virtually requires no start-up cost on the part of the advertiser. He or she only pays for the amount of traffic that he or she generates through the public’s accessing his or her website through that particular link; no payment is made at the initial ad placement in various media.
These two means of advertising are aimed towards trying to be greatly accessible to a potential viable consumer market, because only then can profit be possibly made. These two methods of advertising, however, gain greater ground because they have the capacity to push up a website’s ranking in the query results in search engines.
Query results in search engines, or the matches found by a search engine to the keywords entered by the user, are important because of the fact that these are the most effective tools through which users try to access information on the Internet. The volume of information existent on various topics is simply overwhelming, which is the reason why people make use of search engines to do for them the dirty work of going through Internet clutter and give them results ranked on the basis of relevance to what they are exactly looking for.
PPCs also increase the probability of finding the website ranked higher. Google Adwords, for instance, already creates an innate ranking system within their advertising system, so that even in prioritizing which advertisements are published in a particular page, the ones with greater relevance is made accessible to the public.
Another technique by which to hike up rankings is by providing quality information that is both highly relevant and targeted towards a particular set of keywords pre-determined by the website. With careful market study and a study of consumer behavior, businesses can study just what keywords yield traffic, and subsequently shape their business website in order to best address the demand.
However, with the Internet being as competitive as it is, it is not enough to employ just one of the many methods to increase traffic. Another means that has been acclaimed in truly delivering increased traffic into the website within the framework of SEO is link-building. Link-building is the process through which one website is advertised in another website dealing with a similar field of interest. Usually, an exchange of links can happen, which can provide mutual benefits to both businesses.
Link-building, and being in productive link exchanges, can make or break a SEO campaign to optimize the search engine. It requires a degree of experience and loads of interactive communication in order to make sure that the link does end up published in another website. When this does happen, one’s website can already appear on the search engine more than once-the first is the direct page of the website containing it; the rest are outside access points from links by other pages.
This can be done first, by creating the impression of expertise in a particular field. By creating this impression both among colleagues and clients, the website becomes respected. Moreover, this can create a level of marketability on the part of the website, which will give people an easier time to trust the content of the pages. In effect, it becomes easier to build links with another website who may wish to be affiliated to the image and reputation built by the business.
Another way to do this is by soliciting the help of affiliate web pages. Businesses try to make affiliates by constantly reviewing products, articles, and services offered by other companies on their websites that could serve to complement the service or products to their own. This gives the other company greater impetus to provide links to the business because after all, it features their product. This also results in mutual referral, especially in the case of two complementary products.
Integral to the decision of building links with websites is the determination of the suitability of a particular website to become a link partner. Emphasis is placed on decent linking partners that more or less practice the same brand of ethical SEO as one’s own. Moreover, targeting possible link partners who actually will be amenable to the idea of exchanging links is very important. By targeting invitations for link-building, the business gets a better opportunity to actually gain real link partners who will eventually link the business to their website.
Relevance, congruence, and even similar reputability are just some factors that can make link-building campaigns more effective. With effective links, a business’s search engine appearance is maximized and magnified.

Your wedding day is fast approaching, and naturally, you want to look your absolute best as you head down the aisle. Before you freak out about what to do with your “trouble areas” and start thinking of all the reasons you hate working out, remember you can do this without a no-nonsense personal trainer or pricey gym membership. It just takes a little discipline, focus and a few smart fitness tricks!
Walk if you can’t run!
» Myth: You have to spend hours running on a treadmill to really get in shape fast.
» Fact: Walking every day is a smart and easy way to kick off your daily workout routine. Keeping a steady stride will help you burn calories, lose weight and relieve any pre-wedding stress.
» Go!: Try to shoot for at least 30 minutes of walking a day when possible, and do this at least 5 days a week. According to the American Council on Exercise, beginners can tone down the initial pressure by limiting both their pace and the distance they walk. This means you can break up the walking into manageable chunks throughout the day and still reap the benefits. Start off with a 5-minute morning stroll around your neighborhood; then increase your time and distance gradually throughout the day. Take a 10-minute walk during your lunch break and a 15-minute walk in the evening after work. Remember that keeping a steady pace is more important than the speed in which you walk. Your goal is to elevate your heart rate slightly (if you can’t talk while you walk, you’re going too fast).
Don’t skip stretching!
» Myth: As long as you break a sweat, you’re getting a full workout.
» Fact: Giving your body a proper warm-up and cool-down isn’t just a necessary part of any workout; it has plenty of additional benefits. Stretching before and after a workout not only increases overall flexibility and boosts circulation, but according to the staff at the Mayo Clinic, it can also improve your posture and relieve stress.
» GO!: Since most types of workouts cause the muscles in your body to flex and contract, you’ll want to stretch before and after each, and at least three times a week, to maintain a balance – especially if you don’t usually exercise. There’s an art to stretching properly. Breathe consistently and deeply, but be careful not to push your limits. It’s normal to feel a little tension, but you never want to prolong or hold a painful stretch.
Snack smart!
» Myth: You must avoid the vending machines at work at all costs.
» Fact: Smart snack choices can be found among the usual junk food offerings. You just have to know what to avoid.
» Go!: You’re busy and sometimes need to snack on the go – we get it. But if you must hit the vending machines, start by seeking out snacks that are low in fat, sodium, calories or carbohydrates, and beware of portion sizes. Live Healthy America ranks classic favorites like Doritos, Skittles and Frosted Strawberry Pop-Tarts among its top five “just don’t do it” vending snacks. Avoid these and grab something from its best-bets list: Baked! Lay’s Original Chips, Planters Sunflower Kernels and Smartfood Reduced Fat Popcorn.
Don’t believe everything you read about water!
» Myth: Drinking bottle after bottle of water will help you lose weight.
» Fact: There is such a thing as drinking “too much” water, and doing so can cause cramping and sodium deficiencies among other complications.
» Go!: People often say that drinking lots of water can help with dieting and intense workout plans. But if you dig a little more, you’ll find that some medical and health care professionals disagree. While keeping hydrated can help cleanse the body, drinking too much water could lead to decreased sodium levels in the blood. Stay hydrated, but be careful not to overdo it.

Search engine optimization is critically important for any company, big or small. The most common method of finding websites is done via the major search engines and the higher your site shows up, the more visitors you will get. A key factor in determining how high your site will rank is link popularity, primarily determined by the number of sites that link to you. The process of increasing this number, link building, is arguably one of the most difficult SEO tasks. Nonetheless, an extensive set of back links is essential to outranking your competitors.
While the process of building links may seem daunting, especially at first glance, it can be surprisingly exciting. Much like the field of SEO in general, there has yet to be a proven best strategy on how to build links. The art of link building is constantly evolving and everyone approaches the job a little differently. Below are in-depth looks at three link building techniques that every company should be pursuing.
1. Learn From Your Competitors
One of the best ways to begin or refocus your link building campaign is to analyze what your competitors are doing. The objective is to find, analyze, and reach out to the sites that are linking to your biggest competitors. There are tons of ways to go about this, the cheapest being free online resources. There are many back link providers online that supply the URL and anchor text of hundreds of back links from any competitor. On any such provider it may take a while to weed through the list and find the quality sites, but going through it will give you a general sense of the sites linking to your competitors. The trick is to reach out to said sites and convince them that your own site is worth linking to as well. And the games begin…
Some more great tools to track your competitors can be found at SEOmoz.org, the leader in SEO resources. A useful free tool from SEOmoz, Open Site Explorer, allows you to explore and compare competitors’ back links using metrics to judge for quality. You can find some other powerful link building tools on SEOmoz that require a pro membership (check out their free blog to learn more about SEO resources and strategies). Learning from your competitors is an excellent way to build up back links, but in order to pass your competitors you have to pursue other methods as well.
2. Utilize Directories
Directories provide a relatively quick way of obtaining back links and can generate rapid results in search engines. Submitting websites to directories has always been a bit of a controversial issue in the world of SEO as it has been shows that misuse of search directories can result in penalization from search engines. Nonetheless, an educated method of utilizing directories for link building can produce valuable SEO results. In many cases, all you have to do is enter some general company information and you will get rewarded with an instantaneous link.
There are countless lists online of high volume free directories to submit to and many include page ranks and other helpful attributes. To avoid penalization, is imperative to only submit to directories that have categories relevant to your site. Once you locate the best category, be sure to check the guidelines to see if you can link to deep pages within your site. The deeper the links you submit to the directories the more pages of your site the search engines will crawl, enhancing the effect of each back link. While the high success rate of getting listed in directories (especially compared to that of emailing sites that link to your competitors) can be captivating, don’t forget to pursue other link building strategies as well.
3. Write Articles
Article and blog posts are the best way to get the exact back links you want with the most optimized anchor text. However, great links come at a great cost. And naturally this type of link building strategy takes a lot of time and effort. The primary goal is to write articles with applicable information that include links back to your site. You can then publish the articles on either relevant sites or in article directories. Not unlike search directories, article directories can be a relatively efficient strategy to get back links. Once again, you can do a quick search on Google to find a list of high trust article directories to submit to.
Many article directories have various posting rules (no links in the first paragraph, no more than three links, etc.) but in every case you should be able to find at least one way to get links pointing back to you. This may come in the author’s bio section or in a profile page but the opportunity will be there. Another location to post articles is on blogs or relevant websites. Try doing some research of suitable blogs or sites and reach out to them with your article. Many webmasters will jump at the opportunity to include your article as a guest post especially if you are providing rich content.
Conclusion
All of the aforementioned strategies offer great opportunities to significantly boost your company’s online presence, but an essential component to any successful link building campaign is variety. Try to create a balance of your different link building efforts. Email some websites that link to your competitors, submit your site to a couple of directories, and publish a couple articles that link back to your site. Definitely make sure to document your efforts and keep track of your link building results.
While these link building strategies only scratch the surface of SEO tactics, they are a great place to focus your efforts. Welcome to the game that is Search Engine Optimization.

The search engine rankings depend collectively upon the content, site structure, and the linking structure. There are various search engine link metrics and these are mentioned below.

* Trust Factor
* Link Weight
* IP Diversity
* Theme Relevance
* On Page Consistency
* Off Page Consistency or Diversity
Basically, there are two types of links and these are- Internal Links (Links within your site) and External Links (Links from other websites to your website). Both types of links are important for the ranking of the search engines. The above mentioned search engine link metrics are described below:
Link Reputation: Link reputation can be described as the words that other site uses for the site. It can be termed as the characteristic that an internal or external link has been gained. The more number of links from trustable sites thus helps to gain more and more votes. If the site has good number of links, and good trust factor, then your site will also have good link weight. Link reputation involves the relationship back links have to a target web page and the context of those back links. Once the web page has gained a degree of trust, all the other aspects like content, title Meta data, bold text, headings, various keyword combinations etc are formed together and the web page can rank for all of them.
Link Velocity: The rate of gaining or loosing the links is termed as link velocity. Getting links in an unnatural way or in high method and that too from questionable sources could create a bad effect for your rankings. Gaining a high quantity of links in one month and then loosing them in the second month will probably put your site in the investigation list to check out for the foul play. So, while building links for your website try to be natural in link building. One you follow the natural link building process you will gain a good rank in the search engine’s view, and so you need not to worry about link velocity.
Trust factor: If your website has links from authoritative or trusted websites, could provide a new level to your website. The number of authoritative pages there are in your website the more trust, strength, and ranking of your website can grow. Building trust takes a lot of time, so never ware it once you gain the trust factor. Try to maintain the trust factor.
Link Weight: It can be considered as the return of investment after getting the sufficient amount of links (may be they are internal or external). It is delivered to the target page in the form of internal links, anchor text etc. continued
