On the Internet, links are very important for websites to
accumulate because they have such a heavy bearing on a website’s
relevance and ranking when certain keywords are searched for. As
a result, many websites are working hard to get more links to
their site than their competitors so they’ll have higher
rankings. This sounds great in theory, but getting links may
seem like a difficult or even impossible task to you. It is not
however, because of reciprocal link exchanges.
Every website wants more links so you simply make the offer to
trade, that is, you link to them and have them place a link back
to you. Of course, there can be some things that stand in your
way with this technique, but there are ways you can lessen the
likelihood of rejections for a reciprocal link and ways to find
certain link partners as well. Read the following tips for more
information.
Tip #1 – Identify Websites
The first thing you want to do is identify websites that you
would like to link to your website. These can be websites that
offer indirectly related products to what you offer on your
website, or any website you can think of that would have a
market for your products as well. Also, you want websites to
link to you that are popular and have a high search engine
rankings already because this means they likely have a lot of
traffic. The more traffic a website has that links to you, the
more likelihood that your site will get traffic from this link.
Do your homework and get as many good links as you can.
Tip #2 – Link First
Once you have identified the websites you are interested in
linking to, you should then go ahead and link to them first.
When you e-mail them, you can simply say that you really like
their site and have added a link on your website to theirs and
you would appreciate it if they add a link back to you. Then, if
they do not link to you within a reasonable period of time you
can send a follow-up email, always polite of course! If they
still do not link to your website, simply remove their link from
your site. This method will work for the majority of websites
you proposition.
Tip #3 – Information
When writing e-mails requesting links, make it easy for the
webmaster to link to you. People are extremely busy but many are
willing to help you if you make it easy for them. If you make it
difficult, they will not be as likely to help simply because of
the effort it requires. As long as your provide the link you
want, the URL, title, and description of your website, you’ll
have a great chance of getting that new reciprocal link

One of the best ways to get directed traffic is by the use of link exchange sites. In most cases, the link exchange websites ask the members to put a code snippet which can track the amount of traffic their websites receive, and also keep advertising the other websites and then based on the statistics provide the website owners with some ratio of the listing, say for each 5 times you show different listings on your website, your website is shown 4 times on other people’s website. Apart from this, there are also link directories, where you can put your website’s URL and also provide a brief introduction. This also provides high quality one-way website links which improve the page rank further. However, while submitting the website to the link directory, care should be taken that the submission is made to the link directories which are in the same niche to ascertain proper coverage from people who search those directories and hence provide high quality traffic.

Link exchanges used to be a great way to increase your Page Rank and gain a better position in Google. However times are changing and now this method has become less effective. Now it will no longer help you with popularity but will still gain targeted visitors to your site.
Why has this method of promotion gone out of favor? The main reason is the excessive spamdexing that webmasters indulged in. This is a fancy name for blatantly trying to cheat the search engines. These cheaters especially targeted Google as Page Rank lays heavy emphasis on popularity and links to your site. Here are a few ways that web masters tried to cheat the search engines:
– Buying many of them to falsely raise popularity. – Collecting them (farms) – Exchanging with anybody and everybody just to gain popularity – Making dozens of small websites that will join with your main one and give a false view of your popularity.
Link exchanges can still be an effective way to get targeted traffic to your site. However there are a few points to remember.
1. Always choose websites that will be good resources for your visitors. They will be ones that are complimentary to your business.
2. Never join websites that have huge collections from anywhere and everywhere or collect these yourself. These websites are known as farms and can actually get your site banned by Google. Because of their vast number they will not bring you any traffic, as you will just get lost in the crowd.
3. Never choose random websites. These will not bring you good traffic and can even make your Page Rank drop with Google.
4. Make sure you exchange links with quality websites. This is important for your own business reputation and Page Rank with Google.
5. Categorize the URLs so that there are no more than 10 to a page. This will be fair to your partners as visitors can find them easily and use them as valuable resources.
As you can see link exchanges are not dead. You just need to adapt to get the best possible use out of them. They will not affect your popularity much but as you can see might affect your Page Rank due to the type of websites you are partnering with. With these few points you can still gain targeted traffic and sales by using this method of promotion wisely.

Anyone that deals with marketing and advertising on the Internet knows that link popularity is one of the main causes for high rankings. There are a wide variety of techniques that can be used to improve the general ranking of your online home based business on the major search engine sites, including Google, MSN, Yahoo, Ask, and a number of others. Why do you want to improve your website’s ranking? It holds true that the majority of the internet searchers start their search with a visit to one of the major search sites. Therefore, it is good to try to make sure that your own site pops up when potential customers are searching for what you have to offer in your home business endeavor. If search sites can deliver up your website to the computer screen in front of your potential customer, you could be on your way to make the sale-and with absolutely zero spent out of your own pocket for additional advertising. Cutting expense is always a good thing for any business–and online business at home is no exception to this rule. (And advertising can be expensive.) What you would need to have done to attain this free advertising would have been to make small changes to your the content of your website in ways that the search engines see and appreciate, and have your site float up to the top of the listings.
But how show you do this? Search engine logarithms (formulas that that search sites use of determine what is relevant and what is not) have become more and more complex as the internet has matured. This is necessary so that the Google and the other search sites can render precisely what the searcher is seeking, with little duplication or irrelevant content. It is no longer sufficient to simply list your site in a few online directories to achieve good ranking. The more successful the Google searcher is in finding what he/she is looking for, the more likely it is that that individual will return to that search engine for their needs the next time.
One way that search engines use to find relevant content is through keywords. A keyword is just a word or phrase that identifies what you are promoting. Search engines initially go about the task of determining a precise match for the term that the searcher has typed into the search box. If it is a popular search, there will be a vast number of web pages that have some relation to the search term used. If the search was placed in quotations, then the exact phrase will be pursued (if not in quotes, the search site simply looks for the individual words no matter where they may appear on a page.
So then, it is important to use the proper keywordsones that prospects for your product might use when looking for what you have to offer. If your product or service is very unique, it may be easier to select key words that are very specific, and therefore probably used less often, which results in a smaller number of results. Your market is then more targeted. This can be a positive thing because then you are sure that the prospects who search that term desire specifically what you have to offer in your online home business–for instance, “crossword puzzles for children” is a rather specific category.
If you are selling to the business opportunity seeker, however, you’ll find that the search terms can be very popular and therefore harder to specify. Definitely, if there is something particular or unique about your product, this should be reflected in your choice of keywords. What benefits does your product offer that the prospect is looking for? Additionally, you can do a quick check of keyword popularity tools to determine any other terms searchers are using to find the kind of product you have.

Presumably, if you have posted interesting or valuable comments, readers will want to visit your web site to see what other insights or valuable products you have to offer them. Using your posts to “advertise” the site itself is generally considered a no-no. It is better to write interesting posts related to the thread of the forum topic, and then allow the reader to find you via your website link in the signature if they wish to do so.
Another highly popular way to achieve backlinks is to write articles and post them on internet directories. Articles tend to stay published for a very long time, so a good article can provide some additional traffic flow for yearsso long as your topic is interesting and still relevant. Still another way is to submit your web site to online web directoriessome charge for this, even though many are free.
One thing that the internet does very well is to remember. It remembers forum posts. It remembers articles. It remembers links and backlinks. It remembers your listing in web directories. It is this inherent memory that can serve to greatly improve your bottom line. Do the work once to optimize keywords, and to achieve some one-way and two-way linking, and you may financially benefit for a very long time to come.

It has been said that “what matters is not what you sell but how you promote it.” So, the secret to success lays within your marketing techniques. That’s why it is very important for business owners to develop skills which allow them to increase the sales of their products.
One of the most important skills you must have is the ability to reach a lot of people quickly. To do this you need to realize how powerful media is an how it can drastically increase your revenues.
– Link exchanges –
Link exchange is another way to increase your exposure for free. Let me explain. There are millions of web sites out there right? So when someone is looking for an specific subject on the Internet, Search engines list the most relevant pages first.
For example, if the surfer types in the search bar the keyword real estate, the most optimized real estate related web sites are the ones which will appear first. There are thousands of web sites related to this subject competing for placement. You don’t want yours to appear in the 17th page right? You want it to appear if possible within the first page.
Now, achieving that rank is hard. There are different tools you can use to improve your web pages optimization. I have already mentioned some of them. You see, one of the most important aspects you will have to take into consideration if you want to increase your site exposure is link popularity.
The more pages out there linking to your site, the more popular your site will be and the more visitors you will receive. You can increase your link popularity through link exchanges. You can go to certain web sites and arrange deals with other web masters. You can post links on your web site to other web masters’ sites as long as they do the same thing with you.
This will be beneficial for both of you. Think of it as having business partners who can refer new clients to you on a daily basis while you do the same for them. The best thing is that it all happens automatically without either of you lifting a finger. The Internet takes care of it.
After the exchanges are completed you will receive visitors from their web sites and they will receive visitors from yours. For example let’s say you set up an online dating business with the intention to sell your dating magazine.
Using many of the advertising techniques described in this series you can attract a lot of customers. Some of them will be also interested in some of the web pages you are linking to. So they will click on those links and visit those pages.
The same will happen to you. You will receive extra traffic from “your Internet partners” which are linking to you. Furthermore, you can also achieve better rankings on the search engines if you have many websties linking to yours.
Some experienced marketers think that if you write articles it won’t be necessary for you to exchange links. But some successful online business owners combine these and many other techniques to increase their exposure.

How to use link exchanges to get refferrals

A link exchange is a link from your web site to another web site that is in a similar business. For example if you sell life insurance your partners should be attorneys and accountants that specialize in estate planning in your area. This serves two purposes. One when people look for annuities or life insurance in your area your office will have a higher ranking than other offices. You will higher ranking due to the fact that you have more relevant back links than your competion.
Second this will help to build a network of people that provide referrals.
It is 2009 so I am going to assume that you have a website. If not ask anyone you know under the age of thirdy and they can build you one. The monthly cost is only seven dollars a month. Don’t think for a minute that your customers do not use the internet. If you don’t have a website gets one. A simple blog only takes 30 minutes to get up and running.
Once the web site is up simply set up a section that states “visit our partners” this is were the links to your partner sites will be located. Your partners in return should have a link to your site. This is called reciprocal linking. Reciprocal linking is an excellent and cost effective method for generating traffic to your site, and generating leads.
The remainder of this article is going to consist of step by step instructions how to set up a link exchange network to generate leads.
1. The first step is to set up a sign up form on the home page of your site. Do not spend a dime on marketing if you do not have a sign up page on your home page. The reason why I say this is, people are not going to go to your site and say “Wow what a cool site I think I will buy some stuff”. What people will do is sign up for a free report on your niche. So offer a free report so that people will fill out a form.This allows you the adviser to run a drip campaign so when the client is ready to buy there going to call you first. Not their nephew that never returns their phone calls.
2. Once every thing is in place send a simple e-mail to other professionals in your area regarding setting up a link exchange. Remember attorneys get paid for billable hours only. So if you’re offering to send them clients at no cost there going to respond. Think about it. Your approaching the law firm and saying hey I sell insurance or service that the law firm may use for that matter. My clients need legal advice. In return for the clients I send you I need you to do the same. There is no shortage of attorneys in this great country of ours. Attorneys spend millions in their pursuit of generating a client base.The same thing goes for accountants. Setting up a network of trusted professionals can only lead to a win win situation where everyone wins.
3. Set up the links for your partner’s sites on your website. Follow up on their sites to make sure that a link to your web site is present. In a short period of time you will see a spike in traffic. Remember nothing is for free. If you want others to help you, you must do the same.
4. Set up link exchanges with blogs that are in your field of expertise. Use the blog role feature in Word Press.The search engines love blogs and will drive traffic to your site in droves.
The goal here is to double the amount of business that you are currently working with in a three month time frame. The way to do that is to spend all your time in front of qualified prospects. By building relationships with other professionals and people who run financial blogs you are bound to generate tons of leads. And by generating an abundance of leads you are bound to double your business.
