I start out wordy and end up wordy. When I cut out a word, I feel like I’m cutting out a body part. I use a red pen. (Once an editor, always an editor.)

Writing A Book Review

Writing a book review is one of the most challenging tasks that students are expected to carry out in the course of their academic pursuits? However, there is no need to sweat anymore as below are various ideas which will help the student carry out effective and easy book review writing tasks which are essentials to every student. Book review writing is a highly efficient task which incorporates a wide variety of skills such that students who have amassed diverse skills are more likely to garner better grades and have an easy time with the book review task than those who lack the skills. Similarly, book review is not restricted to certain disciplines as a wide variety of subjects have book review assignments where the student evaluates a book after thoroughly reading it cover to cover.
Therefore, for one to be competent in book review writing, their reading skills have to be quite okay as the ability to execute al the said instructions and objectives of the book review, they must have understood the book. This calls for better grammatical skills such as reading and note taking as it will require a summary of the key points that are detected on the way and which should be included in the book review. However, book review does not involve a single reading of the book but several attempts in different capacities such as incorporating scanning of the major sections and later on the minor parts. Caution should be taken to read all the sections of the book being reviewed as the various issues which will be addressed are likely to originate from various section of the book. Hence book review calls for plenty of patience and perseverance as some books are rather long such that they take up longer to read cover to cover.
The book review task also entails noting down the various points as the student reads through the book. This may include note taking of various sections or various concepts which are outlined and should be included in the book review. However, to carry out efficient note taking for the book review, the student must have read through the instructions hence when reading the book, they are able to take note of the content that is necessary for the book review writing. Failure to understand the question of the book review is detrimental as chances of incorporating the wrong information are very likely. Similarly, it may lead to poor coordination of the book review and content of the book thus causing incoherence.
The other skill that is required is use of proper grammar which will make it easier to illustrate the main point using different wording. This will present the same idea of the book review while different criteria will be used to depict the same points. Flow of information in the book review should be maintained at a high degree as a book review that does not have the consistency of other book reviews results to a poor paper.
Lastly, the student should take sufficient time to proofread the work thus eliminating any form of errors that may have occurred in the course of writing the book review.

In August 2009, the result of years of work came out in English, in South Africa, as Spots of a Leopard – on being a man. What I had started in 2001, saw a climax in April 2007 with the publication of the Dutch edition for the Netherlands and Belgium. ‘Vlekken van een luipaard’ was nominated one year later for awards in both Belgium and the Netherlands.
These nominations strengthened my resolve to make sure this book would also find an audience in the English-speaking world; and especially in Africa. So: in August 2009 there it was: my self published copy of “Spots”. I had done something the established publishers hadn’t dared.
I’ve learned the hard way that, when dealing with established publishers, a few things really don’t work when you want to take your matter to print.
1) They need months to read a few pages. While a manuscript collects dust on their desk, there is not a lot one can do but wait. And waiting for other people’s decisions is not really my strongest character asset, I noticed.
2) They judge a book according to criteria mostly set up by their accountants and financial managers; these are usually individuals who know a lot about mathematics and statistics, but have zilch feeling for creativity, social relevancy or contemporary needs of a society. For them a niche is something to be desperately avoided.
However, publishers have networks which no individual author has. They have deals with the big book chains, so their books end up on tables near the front door. At a fee, of course. They also have channels to distribute, nationally and internationally. And they have their own favorite reviewers at newspapers, TV-stations and radio.
Self-publishing
After yet another ‘No, we won’t bring Spots to the market’, I decided in March 2009 to then do it myself. The translation was halfway done, I had found an editor to weed out the mistakes and a designer to do the layout. Of course, although they were and are friends, all of that at a fee.
Most difficult was it to find a distributor. The big ones can’t waste their time on a small publisher – they won’t even reply to emails. And most small distributors with a vague interest in scanning the market for stuff not picked up by the big players however, do also not have the time to engage with unknown names.
This problem of communication will remain, even after signing a contract. I’m at my second distributor now and am considering taking away all my books out of their stock since they simply can’t be bothered to pick up the phone. Let alone to make payments when payments are due.
Without those distributors no chain will even consider stocking a book from a small publisher. There are simply too many people out there who, like me, think they wrote something worthwhile, who are eager to follow up on the well-being of their work.
Finally, a mere two weeks before I was about to go to print did I find a distributor willing to take me and my book on. This crucial step meant ‘Spots’ would find a way to bookshelves.
Going to print
The moment I’d found a distributor I dared taking it all a few steps further. I now needed to generate as much publicity as possible. And it worked. Previews would appear in major publications and magazines; I organised radio interviews and launches. And the feedback so far was positive.
Knowing about this upcoming exposure, I decided to up the print run from 1,000 to 2,000. Raising the print run meant the per copy prize would go down. Which was good for either my pocket, or for the retail prize.
I invested about € 7,500 ($ 10,000) in making sure ‘Spots’ would see the light of day. Most of this was for the printers, another batch for the designer and a third batch for the editor. A magic amount of money, enough to buy a decent second hand car. Or to survive on for a year…
The first results were encouraging.
And now, in late 2010, more than a year after the launch?
I have sold about 1200 copies. Most of those I sold myself at presentations, debates and seminars. There are about 800 copies left. I will not be sold out any time soon. My profit per copy sold to bookshops is about € 2,00 ($ 2.50), with most of the revenues going to the bookshops.
Now my book is for sale via Amazon as both a print-on-demand as well as a Kindle-edition. Through another provider it’s even available at Barnes & Nobles in the US and globally for the Sony e-reader too.
Hindsight
When I take stock of all of this, looking back I see where and when I took decisions that I should have taken differently. Most important of those is: I should have printed less copies. Less copies would have increased the price-per-copy for me, and therefore would have limited my profit-per-book, but it would also have meant less of an overall financial risk. I should have gone for a first print run of maybe 700 copies, and then move to print-on-demand. That way I’d have limited my financial risk dramatically.
Another crucial point: I overestimated the possibilities for international sales. ‘Going abroad’ is a whole different ball game altogether.
Learning curve
All in all the experience of self-publishing has been a great learning-curve.
* Trying to enter a market that is as small as it is in South Africa, with many, many, many peculiarities and struck by a deeply engrained culture of non-communication and sloppiness is, I find, an audacious endeavour.
* The circle of book professionals simply is too tight-knit for relative outsiders to be able to crack open the walls around the ivory towers.
* The market of book-buyers (amounting to allegedly only 700 thousand individuals in the entire country) is too small a pond for too many fish.
* With a few very clear and outstanding exceptions (especially amongst the independent bookshops like The Book Lounge and Clarke’s Books) most booksellers see books as a commodity no different from your average pack of Omo washing powder.
* The book industry in South Africa thinks it exists on an island with a few colonies far beyond the horizon (the US and the UK), with nothing in between; they lack the slightest sense of African-ness and are unaware of this vast continent at their feet. It is impossible for any individual to make a dent in this short-sighted approach
* For me as the author/publisher it has shown crucial to not rely on anybody else for anything. No one will ever be as passionate about my product as I myself will ever be, and those needed to assist in sales will most likely not even read one line of what they’re selling, so they have no idea what it is they are supposed to sell.
* Another crucial lesson: start small, with a low print-run and see how that goes. It is indeed way better to make less of a per-copy-profit than believing in the phantom of great turn-overs. If sales go well, one can always decide to take a calculated risk a bit later on.
* Any self-publisher will lack almost everything that helps established publishing houses to reach their market – no matter how good (or average) your book is.
Final word
Had I known all this before I went to print, would I still have self-published?
Yes, I would.
Mostly because of the incredible joy of the entire production process – from start till end (which never comes, by the way).
So, if you’re contemplating publishing your own book: go for it.
But go one small step at a time.
And do have a calculator nearby.

Another crucial point is that I overestimated the possibilities for international sales. I had expected, and hoped, that ‘Spots’ would find an audience in Africa as a whole, and maybe even would find a way to the ‘North’. That has not happened. The marketing and distribution networks simply do not exist in Africa. All my book sales in Nairobi were generated by me, while journeying to Nairobi, with boxes of books as excess baggage. There simply are no trade channels in the book industry between South Africa and East Africa. As a bookshop owner in Nairobi told me: ‘It’s easier and cheaper to buy books in the UK and fly them in, then it is to do so from South Africa.”

Publishers and Publishing: Why We Still Need Them
Publishing is a billion industry that relies on one of the oldest and most basic of human creations, the word. If people initially used words to express simple ideas and feelings, they eventually sought more complicated ends—preserving extended thoughts, transmitting them to other people, both near and far, and creating structures, such as laws, plays, and sonnets, that were aided by the ability to record, arrange, and store words for later use.

The Myth about ‘the African myth of virgins’
Many have come to think that a horrendous belief lies behind the plague of baby- and child-abuse in Africa, and especially South Africa. When looked at critically, though, not much remains of the validity of this myth as a cause for the levels of sexual abuse. A crisis in masculinity, however, seems much more credible an explanation. Masculinity expert Aernout Zevenbergen wrote this essay.

Education Book is the cornerstone of a well rounded individual and they say that we learn something new every day. If you think about it this is very true. There is probably not one day of your life that goes by where you don’t learn a new piece of information that wasn’t in your possession at the start of the day. A wise man once said that the day we stop learning is the day we die.
Educational benefits associated with Children seek many different forms of entertainment. Many are content to indulge in a good store bought coloring book, while others enjoy the entertainment that an online Halloween coloring book has to offer. Many parents may not realize it, but coloring – whether it is online or offline – offers numerous educational benefits.
First, this type of activity encourages children to be creative in many ways. Creativity is the basis of all educational experience. If a child can be creative, they can easily open themselves up to a number of educational experiences. Not many parents would believe an online Halloween coloring book could have this type of effect.
When a child visits an online Halloween coloring book and begins to indulge in the activities there, it teaches them the value behind taking their time to ensure that they do a good job. It also helps them to learn the experience of accomplishment and a job well done.
While this really may not seem like an educational benefit, it really is. If all children valued the concept of hard work and dedication to the projects that they pursue or are assigned, and learned to experience a sense of accomplishment within themselves on a regular basis, the nation’s literacy rates and standard testing scores would not be nearly as low.
There is a great variety of educational books for children. Educational books cover the realm of the Alphabets, Numbers, Animals and books that focus on the right side of the brain and the left side of the brain. It is a great idea to buy all of the books at the same time so that you can expose your child to different things each day.
Another great reason for buying educational books for children online is because they have become very affordable. You could buy two cups of coffee for this amount of money. Look online for a reputable educational book supplier that will help you pick out a few choice books for your child.
Since negative emotions are aroused when a child is told off, it is only natural that they do not really learn anything when they are sternly told ‘does this!’ ‘Do not do that!’. Instead, if the messages could be woven into stories that the child would love to remember, then the chances of the child learning the lesson would be much higher.
To enable parents to take advantage of this inherent human tendency, publishers of educational books are printing books that convey values through stories. Once the child is familiar with the story and understands it properly, he or she will also unconsciously remember the message.

Today there is no question that an author should promote their books, even they offer as cheap books, but how aggressively one should go about it. The sad truth is that publishers often fail to promote books, and if we, the authors do not promote your own book thus becomes a life between butter and yogurt could be determined.
What are you doing? You can not prepare, usually in order to promote the book. This method has drawbacks, of course, because every product is different and requires a specific approach. Thus, the most important thing to do consider your audience.
The book is probably aimed at a particular market or markets. Perhaps nutrition, education, health, travel, mystery fans, or nature. The first thing to do in the magazines of people who read your book is read track.
But before you a press release for publication please take the time to find the editor of the books or on the subject you wrote about ratings.
Much of the promotion of your book is to encourage you and assure you that your name, your audience can be seen. Although you can not have received the cult-status, you can go a long way to establish an expert on your subject, as he is deeply involved in society, as you type. For mark you and your work as follows:
Create Your Website – Websites are essentially marketing tools for authors and a large map. Create provides a cheap books website that value, to know your audience and leave it to us, you and your work. Advice and tips more people they can not be found in the book, update any outdated information and provide news and reviews of books and news, as you know in the community. If you are really ambitious, you can create your own community around your site.
Exhibitions – The fairs are an ideal place to promote your book. Each participant and speaker is a potential buyer book. Try to negotiate with your publisher to do a book signing, either at their booth or in the bookstore. Many authors sell thousands of their books in a single exhibition. If you find the opportunity to speak in an exhibition or invited to speak at one of the panels, the best bet to choose. In addition to being a great book advertising is another way to get your name out there in society.
Education – The lesson is a good way to develop your teaching. It is also a good way to understand how people learn about technology, what do you improve the most frequently asked questions, the best ways to get your books, so they are easier to understand. If you are not interested in teaching at the local university or community college, you can teach online. There are many online training company looking for authors to teach their subjects. Most authors found that learning should be fun, profitable, and something you can write almost the same time books are done.
Newsletters – Electronic newsletters are a great direct marketing tool. Although much work, so that it can lead to recognition and huge royalties from book sales checks names. Several authors have had great success with their newsletters, e-mail, amounting to thousands of participants. A good example is the philosophy kabalarien newsletter.
Consulting / Training – Many publishers are only looking for trainers or consultants to author of books on specific topics. Becoming an expert in the local population is known, you need to date, what to keep the state of the art. It is good to diversify if you can – if you focus solely on writing books, you may be in line with the latest advances. Consulting will keep you on edge. Also, if you’re lucky, the company or companies which would like to belong to buy a copy of your book for all employees.
Examiners – Positive book reviews are always a good way to sell books. byline Watch reviews in magazines and newspapers, book and coordinate particular you have with your publisher to ensure that the examiner with a copy of your book early. Comments on Amazon is easy to see through and not much to see for the reputation of a writer, but if you e-mail from a real drive getting positive specific comments could ask him to send their comments on Amazon.
Journal Article -article has long been a good book promoters. The main scientific journals on your topic in print and online sharing and tangential story ideas book about you. How to Become a Book Reviewer

Breaking into the book reviewing profession requires a lot of hard work and patience. Not all book reviewers start off writing for the New York Times Book Review. As with any profession, the best way to get started is to start from the ground up. This means working for publications or newsletters for free. This can be a challenge for someone who wants to get paid for the work she does, but in any writing profession it’s important to build a clip portfolio. Experience is the key , and it is the best route to breaking into the book review business.
There are many publications, newsletters, and online websites that are looking for book reviewers. Some sites, such as Booksneeze, offer free books to bloggers for reviews. Another site that offers potential opportunities for beginning book reviewers is Popmatters.com. Popmatters is a website devoted to pop culture, providing reviews and essays on everything from books and video games to film, music, and television. Every once in a while Popmatters has openings for book reviewers. There is no pay, but the opportunities to build a clip portfolio on a reputable website are great. Another way to build up a portfolio is to write a book reviewing blog. Bloggers have become an intrinsic part of the web community and many bloggers have been able to build a reputation in their related field based on their writing. Setting up a blog devoted to books and book reviews is a great opportunity to break into the industry.
Before finding work as a book reviewer, though, it’s important to know how to actually write a book review. Book reviews should be well-written, but compelling as well. They are designed to inform people about why a particular book is well worth their time or not. A good book reviewer needs to be a passionate reader who understands the mechanics of good writing and storytelling. While reviewing a book, there are several things that should be taken into consideration.
While reading, take notes. This will help you to remember relevant passages or information that stood out to you and your immediate thoughts upon reading them. Marking passages in the book or bookpaging relevant sections is also helpful.
Write down what you liked or didn’t like about the book. Refer to your notes. Did the author do a good job in creating a compelling plot? Did the author bring a fresh perspective on a familiar subject? Does the author have an inventive writing style or voice? If, in your notes, you remarked on something that threw you off as a reader, include that in your review as well.
Include information in the review that is relevant. For instance, if the author is well-known, include information such as previous publications. If you are reviewing a first-time author, include that information as well. Information concerning the topic of the book being reviewed can also be relevant. For instance, if the book being reviewed is about the passage of the Civil Rights Act, then information relevant about that time (when the Act was passed, the players involved in the act, the social, political, and historical relevance of the Act) can be used to introduce the review.
Summarize what the book is about. If you are reviewing a work of fiction, summarize the plot, if that is possible, and the characters in the book. If it is non-fiction, describe the angle which the author approaches the subject. For instance, the author might tackle how President Lyndon Johnson pushed through the Civil Rights Act and the various challenges he faced in getting that done.
Write about the overall thesis or theme to the work. For instance, the historical non-fiction book about the Civil Rights Act might be about how the governing style of presidents determine success and failure in passing legislation. A novel, for instance, will have underlying themes in the plot.
Convey to your readers whether the book being reviewed is worth their time. If the book is compelling, emphasize the relevance of the topic, the author’s writing style, the plot or characters. Be focused and clear. If you loved the book, say so. If you thought the writing was middling to poor, be clear about that as well. Include any relevant passages as examples.
These are general ideas on how to write book reviews. The best way to get a sense of what a good book review is like is to read one. There are many book reviewers, such as Michiko Kakutani of the New York Times, who have become reputable within the book publishing industry. Single out the reviewers who have affected your reading choices. Study why they are so effective and the ways in which you can become an effective book reviewer as well.

Book Review Essay

In basic terms, a book review essay concerns itself on criticizing a book based on its merit, style as well as content. Under normal circumstances, the length of a book revise varies from just a few pages to even a voluminous essay text. It is important to note that a book review is usually informed by personal tastes of the individual reviewing it. With that in mind, no book review may be identical in both content as well as style. Book reviews are important assessment tools to instractors and lecturers in both graduate and other studies. By way of book reviews, a student’s analytical skills are put to test.
What is important to note as far as a book review essay is concerned is that the reviewer should concern himself not on content summary only but on whether the author has managed to reveal the core of the subject and whether the book’s purpose has been achieved. It is also [prudent for any student tasked with coming up with a book review essay to discuss the theme of the text as well as the authors ability to bring out that theme.
All in all, it is clear that in order to come up with a quality book review essay, a student should have a solid understanding of the book in question so as to be able to come up with an objective discussion of the same. It is hence clear that without a good understanding of the book or text in question, a book review exercise may turn out to be an exercise in futility for the reviewer.

Literary Book Review

Students studying literature are from time to time required to write literary book review. A literary book review is a description, analysis and evaluation of the quality, meaning and significance of a literature book. Writing a literary book review is different from writing a book summary. A book review is supposed to bring out the strengths and weaknesses of the book under review. A book review is also different from a book report. While a book report involves only giving factual information about a book, a book review goes further to express the opinion of the writer over the book in question. There are certain specific information about a book that must not lack in a book review paper. These include: the full bibliographic information of the book (this means the name of the author, the year of publication, the title of the book) the place of publication and the publisher.
A good literary book review should also indicate the author’s purpose for writing the book. This may be in the book review’s writer point of view. The book review writer should attempt to deduce the gist of the book and the theme behind the book. Then the writer should classify the book into the correct genre. While writing a book review, try to determine the audience that the author of the book was targeting while writing that book. You should be able to give reason for your claims. The writer should also be able to figure out the style used by the author. Whether there are mannerisms or symbolism used among other styles of writing. It would also be appropriate to include how the book has impacted you, whether it has been able to increase your knowledge or not. Then finally you should state whether the author of the book has achieved the goals he/ she intended to achieve while writing the book. For you to write a good book review you must read and understand the book first. Writing a literary book review is sometimes a challenging task to students as it requires great literature skills and considerable amount of time. Most students move up and down looking for a place where they can receive help in writing their book review. WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) means technology which allows to build wireless data networks with satisfactory parameters and quite large ranges of operation at a comparatively low cost. Additional advantage of this technology is short time needed for its implementation.
Potentiality of WLANs
* wireless access to local network in home, office, business etc.
* wireless access to the Net in public space, e.g. in airports, stations, cafes etc. (hot-spot)
* wireless point-to-point links (connecting LAN networks, telemetry, remote control, remote monitoring)
* wireless access to the Internet (both in cities and in the country)
* emergency communications link (duplication of wired network)
WLAN standards
I will describe some solutions compliant to the next three standards:
* 802.11a – in 5 GHz band: 5.150 – 5.350 GHz and 5.470 – 5.725 GHz, transfer rate up to 54 Mbps;
* 802.11b – in 2.4 GHz band: 2.4 – 2.483 GHz, transfer rate up to 11 Mbps;
* 802.11g – in 2.4 GHz band: 2.4 – 2.483 GHz, transfer rate up to 54 Mbps;
However, there are also used other standards:
* 802.11f – IAPP – Inter Access Point Protocol – for cooperation between access points;
* 802.11i – standard defining new security methods in wireless networks;
* 802.11n – standard for transmitting multimedia in homes using MIMO technology, up to 300 Mbps;
* 802.11e – standard defining QoS – support for high quality of services;
* 802.16 – WiMax standard for backbone networks of high capacity
Wireless network range
It should be realized that the range of a wireless network depends on many factors; we can have an influence on some of them and the rest is unknown. The range of wireless network depends on:
1. Factors related to used devices:
* output power (it has been decided by the manufacturer),
* cable attenuation (depends on the cable and its length),
* gain of antennas (given by the manufacturer),
* sensitivity of devices (given by the manufacturer).
2. External factors:
* attenuation between antennas (can be estimated basing on FSL model);
* interferences from other devices (can’t be predicted – some additional margin of safety needs to be provided to compensate these interferences),
* influence of physical barriers (walls, floors, trees etc.)
So, if we want to know what would be the effective range of our network we have to gather the information mentioned above and carry out simple calculations showed in the further part of this self-help book.
Propagation of radio waves
Fresnel zone
Fresnel zone is one of the most important conceptions connected with propagation of electromagnetic waves, which is indispensable to assess parameters of wireless link. It is the area actively participating in transmission of radio signal energy. Shape of this area is an ellipse in longitudinal section, and circle in cross-section. Radius of this circle is a function of the ratio of distances between antennas – it has the maximum value in the middle of the link. The importance of first Fresnel zone comes from the fact that almost all energy of the signal is conveyed via this space.
The shape of Fresnel zone. R1 is the radius of the I zone.
[m]; where:
* dkm = d1km+d2km, is the distance between masts in km
* d1km – distance from the first antenna in km
* d2km – distance from the second antenna in km
Wrongly made installation. The installer didn’t secure mutual visibility of antennas. The radio link does not work.
Another example of wrongly made installation. Presence of barriers in the first Fresnel zone causes that radio link still doesn’t work properly.

Get your book noticed – use non-traditional marketing

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Get your book noticed – use non-traditional marketing
Before you start a book promotion, book marketing tour or delve into pitching your book, you need a business plan.
First steps
I would recommend outlining your financial steps, strategies and expectations prior to publishing your book. Keep in mind even the best laid out plans will omit unforeseen expenses – so set money aside.
For example, my friend wrote, Francesca of Lost Nation, and decided to publish it under her own business, luckycinda. A business license, at least in California, is pricey. We also had to pay for a web hosting site and a domain name – there are free services but I still think it is best to have your own. After the printing and shipping costs of the book, there are still other fees to consider:
Book signings – If invited out of town, you need to determine how many miles you want to travel that would make it feasible if you only sell three or four books. If you need to stay overnight, you will also have to factor in lodging and dining costs.
Book festivals – You are required to have a seller license which will cost you money and you will also be charged for the right to have a table or booth at the event. While book festivas tend to draw book readers, there is no guarantee that they will purchase your book.
These are just two examples of expenses that can be incurred when promoting your book. Since your budget restraints differ than mine and the type of book you are circulating may be for a different audience, it’s important you jot down the type of expenses you might expect for your marketing plan and incorporate that into your own business plan.
Non-traditional marketing methods
Traditional advertising if you have lots of money is still a good method of promoting your book but the competition is fierce. If you don’t have a name people recognize you will be buried in the “book” pile. So you have to starting thinking of unique angles you can draw from your story to promote your book.
For example, Francesca of Lost Nation’s main character is a 59-year-old woman who is known as a county fair car race driver. In the story, she meets up with a man who owns a Duesenberg and she convinces him to let her drive in a race.
The story, however, isn’t about that. It is an adventure fiction that takes place in the late 1940s in Iowa where Francesca and her doting granddaughter team with barn-storming pilots to capture a wanted felon.
However, I could use the storyline subplots as angles to pitch the book. Here’s some “unconventional book marketing” ideas using the Duesenberg angle:
a. I could contact Duesenberg enthusiast by looking up clubs, blogs or organizations online and offering the book directly.
b. Maybe a car club would be interested in buying the books and offering them as gifts to new subscribers or club members.
c. I could video a 59-year-old woman behind the wheel of a Dussenberg and make a mini-commercial to post on YouTube.
By the way, to implement these ideas is free.
Set a promotion timeline:
Marketing your book takes time and money. I would advise establishing one to two goals a month. Here’s some examples:
Two out-of-town book signings – Estimate lodging, fuel and dining costs
Annual Book Festivals – pick one or two a year
Look for unlikely sources of promotion – groups you can speak to that have nothing to do with publishing or reading. Do you have a history book and maybe people at a Historic Society or Rotary Club might like to hear about it.
Find enticers – can you offer free guides, small gifts or event tickets to drive sales?
Find the right audience:
If you wrote a book about trains go to that audience. For example: Train shops, museums and parks. Contact train clubs, groups and organizations.You can also look up train magazines and newsletters.
The challenge of book marketing, book promotion and book selling is immense but the possibilities are endless if you’re willing to invest into the process.
